The Legend of the Royal Game Company

Founded by a crew of troubadours, silversmiths, and cartographers in 1809, the Royal Game Company grew to a iconic institution to rival the British Empire, and indeed held its own rival World's Greatest Fair in 1851 to showcase the most marvelous games the world had ever seen, all on a floating ship twice as long as the future Titanic.

But alas, the grand fireworks display on the eve of the final night (which so thoroughly mesmerized Princess Alexandrine of Prussia) grew so wild and turbulent that a fire broke out on the ship's Crystal Clocktower, and despite the best efforts of the Duke of Normandy and all four-thousand ships engineers, the majestic vessel sank in a blaze of glory and games in the azure waters of the Mediterranean, off the same coast of Ismarus once visited by Odysseus, in what was the final record and memory of the Finest and Most Royal Game Company the world had ever known...

Until... 172 years later, on a scouting trip to Barcelona, a lone traveler seeking his personal legend came upon the pebble beach shores of the Mediterranean, and there, ushered in by a pod of dolphins, was a bobbing glass bottle (heretofore guarded by The Lady of the Lake until the Appointed Time) floating delicately in the salt water and then onto the shore by his feet... beckoning. In the sky simultaneously, a rogue seagull named Jonathan broke the air speed velocity flight record.

Upon uncorking the bottle, the traveler found a parchment with the Last Words written by the owners of the Royal Game Company, urging that Whosever Find This Bottle and Read These Words be Hereby Proclaimed Rightwise New King of The Royal Game Company and All England, and to be Granted All Creative Powers to Inspire, Entertain, and Unite Humanity through Games, Art and Story never before dreamt, Bound to use these Powers for Good, and to Hold all future Company Celebrations in Places with Ample Fire Extinguishers (should they, hopefully, be invented)... Godspeed!

This man returned home to the Sierra Nevada mountains (but able to be summoned by England in its Time of Need), sidestepped Smaug's lair, and got straight to work, embracing the blessings of the founders to restart The Royal Game Company, on a mission to Inspire and Delight millions of Art Enthusiasts and Game Players in the Abundant New World, with Games, Art and Stories unparalleled...
